Canva today announced the launch of a new AI-powered tool that allows users to convert text into video. Called "Create Video," the tool is part of the platform's suite of AI features. The technology is based on Google's Veo 3 model, one of the latest AI-powered video models.

Based on this advanced model, the tool offers unique capabilities, including cinematic video presentation and original audio generation. Currently, the tool is available to Canva's paid plan subscribers, non-profit users, and members of its Leonardo platform.

In an official blog post, Sydney-based Canva announced the launch of the new tool within its visual communications platform.

The feature is available to subscribers of the Canva Pro, Teams, and Enterprise plans, as well as to non-profit accounts, specifically the Canva Pro Individual package. To use this tool, users can go to the "Canva AI" section in the sidebar of the homepage, then select "Create a Video."

Currently, the tool allows the creation of videos up to 8 seconds long, with an initial monthly limit of five videos per user, and Canva is working to increase this limit in the future. According to a review by the Gadgets 360 team, the tool successfully processed requests and produced a realistic video with audio in less than two minutes. After creation, the video automatically opens in the Canva editor, allowing for editing using multiple tools.

Clips are produced in 1920 x 1080 pixels and can be edited, although changing the aspect ratio is currently not possible. However, they can be converted to other design formats.

Canva noted that the tool is protected by its built-in security system, Canva Shield, which monitors content inputs and outputs to ensure that no harmful or unsafe material is produced. Separately, Canva also announced its intention to acquire MagicBrief, a creative intelligence platform powered by artificial intelligence. However, the deal has not yet been finalized, and the company has not disclosed financial details.
